dimensional inspection of machined products!
But quality must come first. Why don’t you add
an automatic PPG unit to your Muratec machine?
Challenges
One of our customer decided to inspect all important points of
finished parts at the request of their client, but they faced
the following issues:
Points of the problem faced by the customer
・Due to a labor shortage, they have
to hire new staff to do the
dimensional inspection work.
・As they produce three different
kinds of items, totaling 20,000 pieces
per month, the work load on the staff
is quite heavy.
・In addition, the staff have to input
dimensional corrections into the
machine based on the measurement
results.
Solutions
Under such situation, the customer asked us
to solve their concerns about quality assurance.
Our proposal was to use our automatic PPG unit
to solve the above issues.
We modified our existing Muratec machine
to add a gauge unit.
It can perform not only automatic measurement,
but also automatic dimensional correction.
1 . Incorporation of the PPG unit
Muratec offers a wide variety of PPG units.
Below are some examples of the most common requests
we receive from our customers.
●"IPG (In-Process Gauging) unit" that performs measurements
in the machining area.
● "PPG (Post Process Gauging) unit with direct transport"
designed for inner diameter measurement, for which
a loader puts workpieces directly to a measuring table after machining.
● "PPG (Post Process Gauging) unit" used with a dedicated
measurement table to measure multiple points of a part at the same time.
2 .Proposal of our gauge unit and measurement method
Muratec always consider the entire design of the system
if you provide us with a drawing of the workpiece and the desired
measurement points.
We can propose ideas that require less changeover and less manpower,
according to the number and shape of workpieces requested by the customers.
How did it work to the customer?
In this case, the issues the customer was facing were labor shortages
and the burden of large-scale repetitive work,which have become
social problems recently, so our proposal of automatic PPG
was a perfect match for their needs.
By incorporating the automatic PPG unit into our system, it has become
possible to measure all machined products without relying on
human labor, and to automatically perform dimensional correction
for the processing machine based on the measurement results.
Furthermore, our loader handles all transfers from the main machine
to the gauging unit, so there is no need to install additional equipment
such as a robot arm or to make additional electrical connections,
allowing the entire system to be constructed in a simple style that
the customer originally desired.
