“It takes time to change-over for the infeed stocker when changing target workpieces.”
Points of the problem faced by the customer
The customer had mainly used the stacking pallet-type material stocker. However, at each time of change-over, the pallet had to be adjusted to fit the next workpiece. Also it required additional operator skill and time, so the customer was looking for another ways to improve and shorten the process.
Solutions
As our response to the customer's challenge, we developed and proposed a "Flexible Multi-Flow Conveyor." In this system, randomly placed workpieces do not need to be aligned. Moreover, there is no need to change any parts for change-over, as it can be done simply by adjusting the red-circled area in below image. Even the stockable quantity became smaller than the former unit, the customer feels happy to use it because it is very easy to put raw materials into this system and the significant time saving for change-over.

How did it work to the customer?
By adopting the Flexible Multi-Flow Conveyor, the change-over time for the infeed stocker has been reduced by as much as 80%, which is a significant improvement. The customer commented, "Even though the amount of stock has been reduced, we are very pleased that we have been able to improve the time-consuming setup work."
