There was a hexagonal shaped workpiece that needed to be clamped by the main chuck at a specific orientation.
For this reason, customer thought that there was no other method than manual chucking to adjust the position, and automation was abandoned.
We proposed an orientation function by camera for blank material workpiece to solve this customer’s issues.
We designed a system that involves installing an orientation confirmation camera between the machine body and the material stocker.
The camera captures images to confirm the orientation of the workpiece, and the main chuck automatically adjusts the position by its feedback.
By combining orientation confirmation using a camera system and spindle orientation, we were able to achieve the automation that our customer had previously given up.
In addition, we provide total support including camera functions, so our system has been evaluated as “system that can be operated without any concern.”
We have many other examples of automation with utilizing cameras.
The following are just a few examples:
• Pre-orientation confirmation for high-precision hole drilling
• Target material identification (determining by camera whether the workpiece is the correct type or not)
• Workpiece orientation detection
• Marking reader
and more, we have provided systems for various applications.
When providing these functions, we also make adjustments tailored to the customer's operating environment to ensure stable operation.
